Yakima Copperhead Roof Mount Bike Rack Review

The Yakima Copperhead Roof Mount Bike Rack is an affordable option for those looking to enter the market for roof-mounted carrying solutions.
Because the Copperhead is designed with the front fork installed, the front wheel will need to be removed and kept in a different location.

The front fork is secured to a lockable skewer, however the locks themselves (SKS Lock Cores) are sold separately and are required in order to secure the bicycle to the rack.

Because the front wheel is not present, the bicycle is in a position that is less susceptible to the effects of wind resistance when it is positioned on its top.

The mounting rack is compatible with both round and square crossbars, and the tray can accept a wide range of tire sizes, wheel diameters, and front fork shapes.

The only parts of the bicycle that come into contact with anything are the front forks and the rear wheel, both of which are held in place by the tray that the bike is transported in. Your carbon rig has a solid and well-thought-out design in this.

The rack has dimensions of 3 inches in width and 48 inches in length, and it weighs 3.8 pounds.

There is only room for one bike in this carrier.

The Yakima bike rack comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.

The following are some of the features of the Yakima Copperhead Roof Mount Bike Rack:

  • Suitable for use with both square and round crossbars
  • Compatible with a wide variety of wheel, tire, and fork types and sizes.
  • The fork block features an aerodynamic shape, which results in improved stability.
  • A significant advantage for your carbon rig is provided by the mounting style, which keeps all painted surfaces separated from the rack.
  • The skewer, to which the front forks of the bike are attached, makes loading the bike both quick and straightforward.
  • The skewer features an SKS lockable mechanism, allowing you to secure your bicycle to the rack (the SKS Lock Cores are sold separately as an extra)
  • Warranty that lasts a lifetime from Yakima.

If you are worried that you won’t be able to reach the top of the roof without assistance, you can alleviate this fear by using a tire step.

Keep in mind that the Yakima Copperhead is NOT compatible with crossbars that were factory installed.
